FAQs for Potential Members
Why should I join Nurole?
The way that boards traditionally hire new members is not working. There is too much secrecy and too much reliance on old boys’ networks and little black books. Nurole empowers you to find and apply for board-level roles that match your skills, passions and availability.
Who is Nurole for?
Our members come from a whole range of backgrounds, including banking, finance, law, accountancy, management consultancy, marketing, HR, media, healthcare, hospitality, military, the arts and many more.
Who can join Nurole?
Our members typically have previous board experience either as a senior executive (MD, VP or C-level) or as an independent director/chair. This might be with a commercial company (typically with c.£50m annual revenue) or a well-known charity (typically with c.£10m annual income).
We are also keen to hear from people who want to take on their first board role. They should be able to show leadership experience that has readied them for a board-level position (or have a recommendation from an existing member).
How do I join?
Membership is invitation only. You can request an invite here by telling us a bit about yourself, or you can be recommended by an existing member who will be asked to briefly outline your suitability.
Who do you work with?
We work with multinationals, start-ups, charities, government bodies and everything in between.
What does 'board-level roles' mean?
We run searches for chairs, independent directors and committee chairs. We also help organisations find trustees and governors, advisory board members and special advisers.
How does Nurole work?
- When you create your Nurole account we'll ask you to set your role preferences. These help us show you the most relevant roles on the platform (you can review and update these at any time).
- We'll email you with the most relevant roles based on your preferences. You can also log in and browse the Roles Page at any time.
- When you see a role that interests you, you apply through the platform. We'll outline the key skills the hiring organisation is looking for and ask you to evidence your experience in these areas. You will also be asked to submit a Cover Letter outlining your reasons for applying and (usually) a CV.
- We will keep you up-to-date throughout the process so you don’t have to keep checking your account. If you don’t make the cut, we’ll tell you a bit about the candidates who did progress for context.
How is this different to a jobs board?
Firstly all our members are vetted to make sure they are board-ready, and secondly we work with organisations on their searches to craft their role specifications and assess the applications.
How much is it to join?
It's free. And it’s also completely confidential, so nobody will know that you’ve signed up.
How long does it take to join?
Invitation requests are processed within two working days. This is usually quicker if a member has recommended you.
What if I am not looking for a role right now?
There are still lots of reasons to join. You’ll see which boards are hiring, and maybe even find the perfect role that you can squeeze into your portfolio. You can also recommend great people you know for roles they’d be perfect for, introducing your network to great opportunities they’d never usually hear about.
